Nestled roughly 16 km from Ooty, the serene village of Avalanche offers a picturesque journey via a local jeep. En route, travellers are treated to captivating views of the enchanting cauliflower shola forest, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. It is a high-altitude mountain ecosystem. You will pass through several waterfalls and reach a spot where you start climbing. You will ascend through a shola forest and observe expansive grasslands on either side, with streams crisscrossing and abundant wildlife, including gaurs, sambar deer, leopard, and leopard cat. As we pass through the wattle plantation, introduced by the British to make the landscape resemble the English countryside, we can see that since introducing exotic species, native species have taken over and restricted wildlife movement. The wattle plantation offers a view of rolling grasslands and a shola forest stretching into infinity. Upon proceeding, you will encounter a view of Mukuruthi and the Upper Bhavani Dam in the distance. Following this, you will arrive at a tower in Kolaribetta before retracing your steps.
