Completed the trek on the 26th of July 2025. I was lucky to be the only person who had booked for the trek that day. Guards Murugesan, Suresh and I started walking from the staring point at around 8Am through an easy pathway slowly climbing up to the canal banks. Witnessing the historically and architecturally significant Contour Canal up close and personal was breathtaking. The overall trip route was halfway through the canal banks and halfway through the forest. This enabled a great trek experience witnessing a variety of wildlife ranging like Monkeys, Common Langurs, Lion-tailed Macaques to birds like the Red Whiskered Bulbuls, White-throated Kingfisher, Hill Mynas, White-cheeked Barbets, Red-vented Bulbuls, Flame-backs and even the majestic Crested Serpent Eagle. I was also able to sight Sambar Deer, a herd of Elephants and also the endangered Malabar Giant Squirrel. Walking through mud, rocks, grass streams all while the heavy monsoon showers drench you makes you truly connect with nature. The guides were very helpful along the way helping me sight wonderful wildlife and experience few of the best views that i have ever witnessed.
Done on 076/07/2025. This trek is suitable for all ages. Good experience of clear air, water. Could sight peacock, squirrel and foot traces of tiger and elephants. Guidance during the trek by the staff is admirable. Trek Reception Point is changed but in the portal it refers to old location needs to be updated to avoid confusion to the new trekkers.
The terrain is not so demanding letting you enjoy the trek without getting tired. Suitable for all age groups. Our trek was a truly enriching experience, marked by its stunning natural beauty and the thrill of encountering the wild. The overall experience was positive. The highlight of the trek was undoubtedly the sighting of fresh tiger footprints. Witnessing such a recent trace of this elusive creature was an awe-inspiring moment that will stay with us for a long time.We did see a elephant herd in the wild. The guides, especially Suresh, were knowledgeable and passionate about the forest. They shared fascinating insights into the ecosystem, making the journey even more captivating. The forest guards, Diwakar, Sivaraj, Joni, and Raju, were equally helpful and ensured our safety throughout the trek. The food and snacks provided during the trek was good. we would recommend booking the 7 AM time slot to maximize wildlife sightings. The early morning hours are ideal for spotting animals as they are more active during this time. If possible, it's advisable to inform the organizers and arrive even earlier to increase your chances of encountering wildlife.
