I went with my wife on the 31st of August. We had a fantastic experience. The trek was a moderate one. The guides who accompanied us were extremely friendly and very supportive. Altogether a fantastic experience.
To begin the trek, trekkers must first report to the Athimoor Forest Check Post, from which they are taken to the starting point at the Vana Varahi And Sri Renugambal Temple. It's a trek that falls firmly in the "moderate to tough" category—the terrain is hilly and relentless, with steep ascents in the forest that test your endurance. Thankfully, the guides were incredibly patient and ensured we could move at our own pace without ever feeling rushed. The journey to the scenic tribal settlement took us a around 2+ hours. Seeing their simple homes and way of life adds a cultural richness to the trek. From there, it was another 40-minute hike to reach the Kullar Caves. The Kullar Caves themselves are a highlight, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. They are small, with many of the openings barely big enough for a person to squeeze through. The view from hill top was also good. Overall, this is a trek for those who want a challenge and are looking for something more than just a scenic walk.
