The trek from Kalikesam to the Balamore estate entrance was a delightful experience, perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature. While it may not challenge hardcore trekkers because the trail follows a paved road, it is ideal for families and friends who want to explore the forest in a relaxed and accessible way. One of the trek’s highlights was the opportunity to observe various birds and animals. Birdwatchers would love this trail, as I spotted many beautiful species, including the Malabar Grey Hornbill, Malabar Parakeet, White-bellied Treepie, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, and Orange Minivet. Local tribal guides accompanied us, making the experience even more enriching. They shared their knowledge of the region’s plants, trees, and medicinal herbs, explaining their uses and significance. Their insights made me appreciate the forest's ecosystem even more. Overall, this trek is an excellent option for anyone who enjoys birdwatching, spotting wildlife, or simply walking through the forest.
