  • VELLAGAVI

Vellagavi is a very remote and a scenic village in Kodaikanal. It's an arduous 3-hour trek from Vattakanal via Dolphins Nose to Vellagavi. The villagers consider their village a sacred space and do not wear footwear inside their village and surroundings.  They are good-hearted, innocent people who are very welcoming and friendly. The town consists of around 50 houses and several  small temples, along with a primary school. The entire trek takes you through the magical forests and some plantations.  You can experience the beauty of everyday life and the joy of little things in this pristine village and return with beautiful memories.

 

  • TOPSLIP- PANDAVARAI- TOUGH

 

Topslip is located near Pollachi on the Anamalai mountain range. The misty mountain ranges and the dark, enchanted forest under a thick canopy of tall trees create a dreamlike atmosphere. Topslip serves as Anamalai's entry point. It is a biodiversity hotspot, making it highly likely to spot wildlife and even catch a glimpse of the big cat. The trek starts from Karianchola, where you can stroll through the wilderness and spot many species in the darkness of the thick canopy. As you climb up, you will pass through bamboo thickets, grasslands, and rock formations to reach a spot where you can enjoy the 360-degree view of the landscape. Trek further to reach a hilltop with grasslands where you can spot Nilgiri Thar, Gaurs, and even leopards and tigers. Then, you can trek back downhill, which is equally demanding as the trek uphill.

 

  • VELLINGIRI HILL – TOUGH

The Vellingiri mountains stand majestically within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, forming a significant range in the Western Ghats. Often referred to as saptagiri or the seven mountains, Vellingiri holds deep spiritual significance as the revered abode of Lord Shiva. From these sacred peaks flow vital rivers such as Noyyal, Neelivaikal, Mayar etc providing life-giving water to the region's people. The trek to Vellingiri is a thrilling challenge, demanding good fitness from adventurers. The journey presents diverse terrains and weather patterns, encompassing dry deciduous areas and lush evergreen forests and culminating in the breath taking shola forest and grasslands.   • NEEDLE ROCK
